Benefits of Osteopathy
Much of the physical pain and discomfort we suffer often arises from the misalignment or an abnormality in this physical function of the body. Abnormalities or misalignments may be caused by bad posture, excessive or improper use, or diseases such as osteoarthritis. Left untreated, this could lead to long term or permanent damage.
During osteopathic treatment, manual manipulation is applied in order to ease the spasm and tension in muscles and/or release a joint. Deep tissue massage and electrotherapy are often integral to osteopathic treatment. A good osteopath will almost always give advice on how to correct the underlying cause in order to minimise the discomfort and any long term damage.
All of our osteopathy sessions are covered by Vitality insurance.

Cranial Osteopathy
Benefiting people of all ages, cranial osteopathy is a very gentle, non-invasive treatment that is used to resolve a wide range of problems. It encourages the release of stresses and tensions throughout the body. Your osteopath will apply very specific, skilled, light pressure where necessary, in order to stimulate your body’s natural ability to release stresses and tensions.
This treatment often benefits babies who have experienced forceps delivery, caesarean birth, or long labour. For the osteopath, it is important to release the tension and pressure in the cranium that may still be present from birth and can affect the infant’s nervous system.
When osteopaths examine babies, areas of tension are often found in the spine or head, which are indications that the baby is uncomfortable. A baby cannot complain of a backache or a headache and will typically express this by crying and being unsettled or irritable.
This treatment also eases some of the physical discomforts of pregnancy and will help you return to normality after birth by releasing strains from both pregnancy and labour. This allows you to relax and enjoy your new baby.
